It is now wrong to think of Cesc as one of the best young players in the world. He should just be viewed as among the greatest central midfielders on the planet regardless of age.
Tigerish in the tackle and blessed with wonderful technique and vision, Cesc has just enjoyed arguably his best season for Arsenal since joining the Club as a 16-year-old in September 23. It was no surprise to see him command over 60 per cent of the vote in Arsenal.com’s Player of the Year poll. The Spaniard first came to prominence at the Under-17s World Cup when he walked off with awards for best player and top scorer. Soon after arriving from Barcelona, he became Arsenal’s youngest ever player and scorer. He surpassed 150 appearances for the Club while still a teenager and has been short-listed for PFA Young Player of the Year for the past three seasons. At the start of the current season, Cesc had earned 15 Spanish caps and represented his country at the 2006 World Cup.
