With two years at the Club under his belt, Alexander’s experience will be a vital asset to Arsenal’s young side this season.
The former Stuttgart playmaker has operated on the right flank since his arrival here in the summer of 2005 and, after taking time to adapt, has become a key player for Arsène Wenger’s side.
After an injury-hit first campaign in England, Alexander was a regular feature in the first-team last season, making 48 appearances. The Belarus star opened his scoring account for the campaign with his first Emirates Stadium goal in a 2-0 Champions League win over Portuguese champions FC Porto.
The midfielder also found his way onto the scoresheet in two of Arsenal’s biggest victories of the 2006/07 campaign, a 4-0 win at Fulham and a 6-2 rout of Blackburn Rovers. Alexander's close control and dribbling ability once again caught the eye and he was quick to hone his understanding with right-back Justin Hoyte in the absence of Emmanuel Eboue.
At the start of the current season Alexander had 31 caps for Belarus.
